Roccat Announces New Illuminated Gaming Mice

Roccat is unleashing three new gaming mice towards the beginning of November.

Roccat Kone XTDGaming peripheral manufacturer Roccat Studios said last week that three new mice will be hitting the North American market sometime between the end of October and the beginning of November. This new batch includes the Kone XTD Max Customization Gaming Mouse, the Kone Pure Core Performance Gaming Mouse, and the previously announced Lua Tri-Button mouse.

The Kone XTD is the successor to the "legendary" Kone[+] gaming mouse, packing added capabilities while keeping the Kone form factor intact. The same goes with the Kone Pure to some degree, but Roccat slimmed this one down to 91-percent of the Kone[+] size while adding "competition-crushing power."

On a more technical level, both gaming mice feature the latest 8200 DPI Pro Aim R3 laser sensor, a 32-bit Turbo Core 2 72 MHz ARM MCU processor, and "the most advanced Tracking & Distance Control Unit around." Both offer a range of ergonomic features and gaming software for maximum customization.

Roccat Kone PureOf course, what's a gaming mouse without a little embedded light show to illuminate your twitch-based skills? Both Kone mice feature fully-customizable lighting systems: the Kone XTD has two shimmering light rails powered by four independent multi-colored LEDs, and the Kone Pure has a large Roccat logo on the back that offers a choice of 16.8 million colors. This logo can be set to "breathe" or rotate through various colors.

Roccat said both Kone mice also feature an advanced new scroll wheel which the company describes as "the toughest and most reliable ever designed." However all three gaming mice feature Roccat Click Master switch technology powered by Omron which promises that every button press registers with extreme precision. Every click has a pronounced feedback, the company said, so that users "feel their way to successful gaming."

Roccat LuaFinally there's the Lua. It's the least flashy of the three, but packs its own gaming punch for the price. It too features an illuminate Roccat logo on the back, but gamers can only set it to breathe, to remain constantly lit, or turn it off completely. It also packs a fully-adjustable Pro-Optic sensor and a rugged, ambidextrous V-shape form factor. That said, it's built for left and right-handed gamers who want an entry-level gaming mouse but don't want to compromise on performance.

"Continuing a dedication to building the world?s highest quality gaming gear, each of the new mice is built mega-tough using only the highest-quality materials, inside and out," the company said. "From robust exteriors to premium inner electronics, everything on the new devices is state-of-the-art and built to last."

The Kone XTD, Kone Pure and Lua are expected to hit shelves by the end of October/beginning of November, 2012, with a suggested retail price of $89.99 (Kone XTD), $69.99 (Kone Pure), $29.99 (Lua).
