I have already blogged about the use of condominium designation for storage facilities (here, and here for super luxury) ? so it seems a natural evolution to offer really really tiny storage. SafeBox Condominium Vaults (Parallax Investment Corporation is the developer) will be opening up the first (world wide) condoized safe deposit box facility in Toronto, with further development in most large cities across Canada.

On a square foot basis, the units go for either $2160/sq. foot (for 3? ceilings), or $3300/sq. foot for the luxury 8? ceilings.

I?m all thinking this is a phenomenal idea, until I checked out their website and see they are marketing the purchase as ?the ability to own a prime piece of real estate at an affordable price.? This is not an investment opportunity, this is a different way to manage and secure valuables. That the company is even marketing 1.67 sq. foot condos as a real estate play is not only inexcusable, it makes that plan feel a little scammy to me. Now I?ve got a little of that ?buyer beware feeling.?

Art Review: Gillian Wearing @ Whitechapel Gallery | Londonist

Gillian Wearing?s?photographs?and videos focus on people and the emotions and experiences from their recent pasts and childhood memories.

The photographs are the least impressive of Wearing?s works. Asking strangers to write their innermost thoughts on a piece of card feels unnatural as it?s obvious that the subjects have tried to come up with something humorous or profound, thus missing the point entirely.

However, the video art is both insightful and harrowing. The re-enactment of one man?s experience of being bullied as a child is so intense that you may find it difficult to watch.

On a lighter note, the artist dancing in a shopping centre in the absence of music is mildly amusing. Only when you?ve watched it for a few minutes do you realise that the focus of the video is not the artist but the shoppers who all avert their gazes as they walk by and try to ignore this bizarre performance.

A final highlight is the confessional huts where persons behind masks reveal their darkest secrets and traumatic experiences. The enclosed space gives you the feeling of being their confidante, which can be difficult to listen to as some of these individuals or their abusers come across as detestable.

This is an emotionally charged and brilliant exhibition. ?The intensity may take its toll on you, but you?ll walk out with a renewed appreciation for the happier experiences in life.

Gillian Wearing is on display at Whitechapel Gallery until 17 June. Tickets are ?8.50, ?6.50 for concessions.

Jazz up documents using Word ? Business Management Daily ...

If you generate specialty items using Microsoft Word, familiarize yourself with two of the tool groups: Page Backgrounds and Quick Parts. From certificates and diplomas to announcements and posters, it?s easy to give your documents a creative and polished look with tools you can find in Word.

Page Backgrounds

In Office 2007 and 2010, you will find the Watermark and Page Border buttons. Watermarks have been used for everything from logos to messages like ?Confidential? or ?Draft.?

Here?s how to create a picture watermark for a brochure:

Start with a good-quality photo. On your brochure page, from the Page Layout tab, Page Background group, choose the Watermark button. Select Custom Watermark from the dropdown menu and click Picture Watermark. Be sure to select Washout unless the photo is already faded enough to show text through it.

You can be really creative with Page Borders. In the Page Background group, Page Layout tab, choose Page Borders. Select Art from the dropdown field at the bottom of the dialog box. Now start experimenting, so when it comes time to use one, you?ll have an idea of the balance between creative and conventional. You will find borders at each end of that spectrum. When you?re doing fun posters and announcements, you can afford to stretch over to the more creative side and pick something fun.

You may have noticed Page Colors under the Page Background group. Page Colors generally don?t print well but are quite effective for documents that will only be viewed online.

Quick Parts

You also can jazz up business reports and brochures using Quick Parts. It?s important to keep a balance between attractive and busy, and remember that documents that are easy on the eyes are more likely to be opened and read. That?s where Quick Parts comes in. A few paragraphs into the document, your content will need to hold the reader?s attention.

Add an attractive sidebar text box using Quick Parts: From the Insert tab, in the Text group, click the Quick Parts button and Building Blocks Orga??nizer menu selection. The ?easiest way to sort is by using the Gallery column; then look for what you need. Choose text box first. Look in the description column for ?sidebar.?

Caution: The Insert button is lo??cated directly below the Quick Parts selection in the dialog box. It might seem intuitive to automatically go to the lower right, but that takes you to the close button without inserting your selection.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Mitt Romney's rivals are split on whether they would ever embrace the GOP presidential front-runner if he were the party's nominee.

Ron Paul says he hasn't decided what position he'll take come summer, when the nominee will presumably be decided. Paul says his policies on the Afghan war and the economy are so different from Romney's.

Newt Gingrich says he'd have no choice but to embrace Romney ? whom he once called a "liar" ? because Romney would still be a "dramatically better president" than President Barack Obama.

Rick Santorum says he's still focused on beating Romney, whom he accuses of leading a negative attack campaign.

Paul and Gingrich spoke on CBS' "Face the Nation." Santorum was on "Fox News Sunday" and NBC's "Meet the Press."

Circle Park Behavioral Health Services and its Chrysalis Center hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to announce its new health and fitness room that was funded by a grant from Florence?s Women in Philanthropy and the Junior Welfare League.?

Thelma Alexander, Chrysalis Center Director, said, ?We are excited to be establishing a health and fitness room and provide nutritional counseling for our residents. This will allow us to ensure an enhanced holistic approach to services that we can provide to our women and increase their opportunity for a successful recovery.?The Women in Philanthropy and the Junior Welfare League share our mission to improve the quality of life of children and families in our community and it is a thrill to partner with them on this effort.?

The Chrysalis Center is a unique, 16-bed, extended residential treatment facility that offers chemically dependent mothers the opportunity to receive intensive treatment services while continuing to have their children?younger than 11?live with them. Research indicates that while undergoing treatment, women often replace their drug of choice with a food addiction and often demonstrate unhealthy weight gains, as much as?60 pounds in the first year. Compounding the problem, children often model their eating behaviors after their parents and as their parent?s weight increases, so does theirs.

The Junior Welfare League of Florence and the Women in Philanthropy provide a powerful and highly personal approach to improving the quality of life through their volunteer support and efforts in the Florence community.?Their grant funding insures that innovative and effective strategies are utilized to foster social, economic, educational, cultural improvement in our community. In order to address the serious health issue of mothers experiencing addiction issues, the Chrysalis Center received grant funding from these two civic organizations to establish a fitness and exercise room to be incorporated into the weekly treatment plan for the residents.?

Beverly Hiller of The Eastern Carolina Community Foundation?s Women in Philanthropy shared that most of the group?s grant funding is targeted toward the needs of women and children.?

?This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Circle Park Behavioral Health Services and its Chrysalis Center to provide a unique and innovative addition to their services.?This is one of the nine grants that we awarded this year and it is wonderful to have an opportunity to visually witness and experience the impact it will have on the lives of the women receiving services here.?

The grant?s goals are for the Chrysalis Center?s residents to exhibit a more consistent and disciplined approach to daily exercise, demonstrate improved nutritional habits, and model healthier lifestyle habits that will support their overall recovery efforts.?This will be done by the establishment of an onsite health and fitness room that will include a variety of exercise equipment and machines that will be utilized regularly by the Chrysalis Center?s residents to support the grants goals.?Also, as part of this funding, the Chrysalis Center residents will receive a weekly group counseling session by a registered dietician to assist them in making healthy food choices and meal planning.?
